The Anatomy of an Ethical Engagement Ring

The Anatomy of an Ethical Engagement Ring

When Dana Walden Chin and Radika Chin started DANA WALDEN BRIDAL, it was incredibly important to them to create timeless-but-distinctive designs that are refined & balanced modern heirlooms. Dana & Rad are among New York City's most beloved independent designers, placing truly unique, show stopping and responsibly-sourced gemstones (especially Fancy Sapphires) into classic settings that are truly streamlined, truly fresh.

If you prefer the look of diamonds, Dana & Rad personally source diamonds that are certified conflict-free from a network of trusted gem dealers they have worked with for years. All of our diamond suppliers are Kimberley Process compliant (a certification system that prohibits the trading of diamonds from war-torn regions).

Additionally, the duo is making more and more of their signature designs available with a lab-created diamond option. Whichever you choose, your diamond engagement ring will come with full and original documentation for your records and peace of mind.

Dana & Rad personally source all fine metals used in Dana Walden creations, ensuring all metal is 100% recycled and melted down from pre-existing supplies to the furthest extent possible.  By using recycled metal we help to decrease the global demand for newly mined gold and the social/environmental destruction that comes with it. Our goal is to create a meaningful, well-designed, and traceable piece that you can truly feel good about wearing every single day.

Rest assured that we do not engage in overseas production and everyone involved in our supply chain earns a generous living wage. Every single Dana Walden piece of jewelry is designed by Dana & Rad and made in our New York City workshop with materials personally sourced and vetted by Dana & Rad themselves.
Certainly, the current system of diamond processing and metal sourcing is not perfect. However, we are committed to creating meaningful fine jewelry in the most ethical manner possible, while supporting charities and organizations that promote positive changes, prevent abuses, and protect the environment. It is our policy to be fully transparent and forthcoming with regard to every part of our supply chain. If you have any questions at all, please send an e-mail to us and we will answer any questions you may have.
