Dana Walden is a BIPOC-owned small business, aiming to bring timeless and distinctive fine jewelry that is ethically handmade to a new generation of couples. Dana Walden Chin and Radika Chin have worked in the fashion and jewelry industries since the early 2000s. Dana has been designing jewelry as a self-taught bench jeweler since 2003, and the husband-and-wife team has been creating together since 2010. Today, they design ethical fine jewelry and engagement rings for people who embrace art and visual culture; people who find importance in knowing their ring’s designer, how it was made, and where their ring comes from. In addition to creating timeless, distinctive, one-of-a-kind designs, Dana Walden is committed to being accountable for every component of your handmade piece.
In keeping with our ethical commitment, 100% of our jewelry is responsibly and ethically handcrafted in NYC. All gems are sourced from reliable vendors who were personally and carefully vetted by Dana & Rad and we do not engage in overseas production. That is, everyone involved in our supply chain earns a generous living wage. All of our diamond suppliers are Kimberley Process compliant, which is a certification system that prohibits the trading of diamonds from war-torn regions. In addition, we use eco-gold and eco-platinum from melted down, already existing supplies to the furthest extent possible. By using recycled metals, we help to decrease the global demand for newly mined gold and the social/environmental destruction that comes with it. Our goal is to create a meaningful, well-designed, and traceable piece that you can truly feel good about wearing every single day.
Apart from our ethical business practices, we try to contribute to a range of charities and causes that align with our ideas of making the world a better and more just place for future generations. In 2021, Dana Walden hopes to partner with and support the Brooklyn Museum in their efforts to bring engaging arts programs to New York City's youth and teens.
