A Look Back at Dana Walden's First Engagement Ring Design

This Throwback Thursday, we bring you a behind the scenes look at Dana Walden Chin's sketch for the Astrid diamond solitaire engagement ring, his first-ever engagement ring design.

The Story

Timeless Astrid was designed back in 2008, at a time when typical and traditional solitaires on the market were very "thick" and metal-heavy. Dana set out to refine the design of the popular style and created a "new classic" with cleaner lines, a sculpted basket, and a diamond that sits a bit lower on the hand while still allowing an abundance of light to shine through.

To this day, Dana keeps an Astrid silhouette on his bench because, in his mind, the ideal engagement ring should be timeless with distinctive details. Astrid is handmade with ethical , conflict-free diamonds that are personally selected by Dana and Rad themselves. As always, the use of eco-friendly and sustainable materials makes for a timeless design that you can actually feel good about wearing every single day.

Astrid is truly customizable, available with 1ct or 2ct  lab or ethical natural diamonds in your choice of 14k or 18k white, yellow or rose gold, or Platinum ecofriendly fine metal. Lab options start at $4600. Natural options start at $7100. Visit the Astrid product page  for more info.
